$300 Tax Credit from Uncle Sam (2007 Only)

If you installed a Geothermal Unit or an Air Conditioner with 15 SEER Rating or higher in 2007, then go to THIS SITE for full information or ask your accountant.  You will need IRS Form 5695.

If You Installed a Geothermal Unit...

Indiana offers state property tax exemptions for the installation of geothermal units. You will need to go to your County Auditor and fill out a 18865 Form. In order to fill out the form you will need the following information.

  • Property Address
  • Manufacturer
  • Model & Serial Numbers
  • Tonnage
  • System Type - (Open or Closed Loop)
  • System Cost
  • You can get all this information from your installing dealer.

BIG Geothermal Rebate from the state...

For a short time Indiana is giving $400 per ton for SOME geothermal installations.  Here are the major stipulations:

  • Must be replacing an existing heating system
  • Must be a closed loop system
  • Must apply for rebate before work starts
  • This could mean up to $2000 savings
  • The money will run out sometime before summer 2008
  • When its gone, its gone

Geothermal Systems:
For each new installation of a geothermal heating/cooling system, Kosciusko REMC will pay a rebate of $200 on the electric bill and a $200 allowance toward the purchase of an electric water heater. The water heater must be at least 40 gallons.

Add-On Electric Heat Pumps:
For each new installation of an add-on electric heat pump, Kosciusko REMC will offer a $150 credit on the electric bill.
